"A masterfully crafted, brutally compelling Norse-inspired epic." —Anthony Ryan
THE GREATEST SAGAS ARE WRITTEN IN BLOOD.
A century has passed since the gods fought and drove themselves to extinction. Now only their bones remain, promising great power to those brave enough to seek them out.
As whispers of war echo across the land of Vigrid, fate follows in the footsteps of three warriors: a huntress on a dangerous quest, a noblewoman pursuing battle fame, and a thrall seeking vengeance among the mercenaries known as the Bloodsworn.
All three will shape the fate of the world as it once more falls under the shadow of the gods.
Set in a brand-new, Norse-inspired world, and packed with myth, magic, and vengeance, The Shadow of the Gods begins an epic new fantasy saga from bestselling author John Gwynne.
Customer Reviews
Incredible!
I have to say this book is outstanding. I had a little trouble keeping track of all the characters at first because it switches between three different points of view from chapter to chapter, but once I got a handle on them I was all in. Gwynne’s storytelling is impeccable. His descriptions and pacing is perfect. The chapter lengths are just right. I Sailed through this book and am jumping right into the next one.
I highly recommend this is you love Norse mythology or Vikings.
Absolutely a must read
Action packed! Every chapter has something that makes you wanna keep reading. Loved it. Can’t wait to read the next book.
Slow start
While this does have plenty of action, even in the beginning. Building the world becomes tiresome. The narration seems to go on and on. Understandable, considering it’s building a world for your imagination. But it does seem excessive in book one.
I read book one, the audiobook may be better with all the narration.
After getting through book one, you have to finish the series, not only will you want to buy book one ends with a cliffhanger. The characters are amazing, the storyline addictive. I wish I could read them all again for the first time.
