Publisher Description
When a duke meets his match in mischief …
Matthew, the 5th Duke of Elmhurst, is certain he's destined for the same madness that befell his father. He's resigned to a life of solitude, with only his thriving empire for company—powered, he's convinced, by a lucky pocket watch inherited through generations. But during a seemingly mundane visit to Mrs. Rutley's School for Young Women, his prized timepiece goes missing. Instantly, he points a finger at Miss Julia Wallace, the charming young lady who managed to bump into him quite suspiciously.
She thought him insufferable until…
In a quirky turn of events, Mrs. Rutley proposes a peculiar solution: the company of Julia herself to make up for the loss. Julia, more accustomed to tea parties than thievery, reluctantly steps into the role of the Duke's personal charm—lucky or otherwise.
Falling for her wasn't in the plan—it was in the misstep.
As they navigate this awkward arrangement, Julia uncovers the layers of Matthew's eccentric fears of solitude and insanity. What starts as a mutual arrangement slowly blooms into something neither can deny. With each tick of the missing watch, their connection deepens, sparking a light-hearted battle between love and madness. Can they find humor in their predicament and possibly, just maybe, fall ridiculously in love?
Luck led him to her; love made him stay.

Customer Reviews
Duke of Madness
A charming story that reflects the era.
Boring and slow
The plot didn’t move along very fast. The plot with the 7m le made the duke sound like an idiot. I made it through 58% of the book and just couldn’t waste anymore time.
Long, drawn out story
I made it 2/3 through the book and stopped. While well written, it moved too slowly. I kept pushing myself to continue but finally gave up. Obviously they marry but I’ll never know the details.
