Comedian Joey “Coco” Diaz has a delightfully rough-around-the-edges vibe—like he was born with a cigar in his mouth. The sixtyish Cuban American had a hard life before making it big as a stand-up comedian and podcast host, and he’s open about all of it in this spellbinding memoir. From his childhood in the ’70s as a Cuban refugee living in a world of guns and drugs in New Jersey to his early attempts at busting into stand-up in the cocaine-fueled ’80s, Tremendous is filled with hilarious and often dark stories. So much so that by the time Diaz gets to his later-in-life success as a comedian, actor, and host of the hit podcast Uncle Joey’s Joint, it’s all the sweeter. Diaz delivers his memoir in the same cadence he uses for his long, digressive stories behind the mic, so if you’re already a fan, you know what you’re in for. And if you’re not a fan yet, you will be.

Tremendous
Great book. A life story told well, interesting, entertaining and shocking and realistic. Trials and tribulations and continuing to persevere is the story of Mr. Diaz. Brave. Bold.

I thought the book was amazing easily one of my favorite listens plus it’s even better with Joey reading it himself.
